Corinne Bailey Rae

Neo-soul songstress Corinne Bailey Rae became only the fourth female British act in history to have her first album enter the charts at Number One – her self-titled solo debut, which earned her Grammy nominations for “Record of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” and “Best New Artist.” Corinne’s highly anticipated follow-up album, The Sea, was released in February 2010 and debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top 200. Her latest record The Heart Speaks In Whispers debuted No. 2 on Billboard’s R&B chart.

The Venue

Boasting tiered seating, balconies, and eye catching staircases, the Maritime Hotel’s Japanese-themed ballroom looks like something ripped from the past. The cozy booths, hanging lanterns, and vaulted ceiling are all gorgeously crafted, creating a palpable sense of history in its elegant atmosphere. The ballroom closed its doors in 2012, but you can relive its glory days in Corinne’s episode. Photography courtesy of Erika Goldring for Artists Den Entertainment
