The Wallflowers

The Wallflowers have been creating solid rock music since the band’s formation in 1989. Led by Los Angeles native Jakob Dylan, the band has released six studio albums to date, including 1996’s critically and commercially successful Bringing Down the Horse. The album peaked at the Number Four spot on the Billboard 200 and won two Grammys on the strength of hit singles “One Headlight,” “Sixth Avenue Heartache,” “Three Marlenas,” and “The Difference.” In the following years, the band released four more critically-acclaimed albums, and Dylan launched his own solo career. On October 2, 2012, the Wallflowers returned with Glad All Over, its first album since 2005’s Rebel, Sweetheart.

The Venue

Bimbo’s 365 Club was founded in 1931 by Italian immigrant Agostino “Bimbo” Giuntoli and Monk Young. Originally opening at 365 Market Street during the Depression and Prohibition years, the supperclub became one of San Francisco’s most popular nightspots – a place where celebrities and locals came to dine, dance, drink, and watch lavish revues that featured beautiful chorus girls, one of whom was a young Rita Hayworth. The club was also famous for its architecture, including a mirrored fish tank above the bar that appeared to have a nude mermaid swimming in it. In 1951, Bimbo’s moved to its current location on Columbus Avenue. In the 60′s, Bimbo’s presented artists such as Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, and Glen Campbell. Bimbo’s 365 Club is still family owned and operated by Bimbo’s grandsons. Photography courtesy of Colin Young-Wolff for Artists Den Entertainment.
