The Show
The historic Don Strange Ranch in Boerne, Texas provided a fitting setting for folk troubadour Ray LaMontagne and his band, The Pariah Dogs, on a cool autumn night. Culminating the tour celebrating their album, God Willin’ & The Creek Don’t Rise, the group performed in the ranch’s beautiful Kendall Creek Barn before a crowd of four-hundred fans who came from all corners of the country to attend.

Behind the Den
Ray LaMontagne
Born in New Hampshire, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne came to music in one fell swoop: while working in a shoe factory in his twenties, he woke up to the Stephen Stills song “Tree Top Flyer” on the radio and had an epiphany – this was his life’s calling. Five years later, in 2004, his debut album, Trouble, was released on RCA to much acclaim, including numerous notable cover versions of its title track. LaMontagne has built a devoted following ever since, over the course of three more studio albums – including his 2010 release with The Pariah Dogs, God Willin’ and the Creek Don’t Rise, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock, Independent, and Folk charts and won the 2011 Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. His subsequent records continue to receive critical acclaim, including the free-flowing album Ouroboros, produced by musician Jim James, as well as Part of the Light, his latest record released in 2018.
The Venue
The Historic Don Strange Ranch is a collection of authentic Texas architecture, including the main barn and headquarters, huge pavilion and a true Texas ranch house. The surrounding 125 acres of the real working ranch is lush and tastefully designed with authentic historic and antique furnishings. Nestled among oak, mesquite, and pecan trees, the Kendall Creek Pavilion — a beautiful 8,000- square-foot barn — provides both a rustic and elegant setting to all who visit.
